    Who this article is for

CRM administrators and team members migrating data or adding bulk lead lists.

    Overview

Importing contacts allows you to quickly migrate data from spreadsheets or other platforms into GEVADE CRM. Proper formatting and field mapping are essential to ensure data accuracy.

    Before you begin

    • Ensure your import file is saved in .CSV format.
    • Review your data to ensure there are no obvious formatting errors.

Step 1: Step 1: Start the Import

Go to the Contacts dashboard and click the Import icon (usually an upward-pointing arrow) at the top of the page.

Step 2: Step 2: Upload CSV

Drag and drop your prepared CSV file into the upload area or click to browse your computer and select the file.

Step 3: Step 3: Map Fields

The system will attempt to automatically match your CSV columns to CRM fields. Review each column carefully. If a column is unmatched, select the appropriate CRM field from the dropdown, or choose to ignore the column.

Step 4: Step 4: Advanced Options

Click 'Advanced Options' to set your deduplication preferences (e.g., update existing records based on Email or Phone) and add any tags you want applied to this specific batch of imported contacts.

Step 5: Step 5: Complete Import

Review the summary and click Submit. The system will process the file in the background.

    Configuration note

Clean contact records depend on correct data entry, field setup, duplicate checks, import formatting, permissions, and ongoing maintenance. Review contact data carefully before bulk imports, exports, segmentation, or bulk changes.

    Important clarification

Failing to map custom fields: If you have unique data columns in your CSV, you must create those Custom Fields in GEVADE CRM *before* starting the import, otherwise you will not be able to map that data.

    Resolution guidance

    Why did my import fail?

Common reasons include uploading an Excel (.xlsx) file instead of a .csv, having special characters in the column headers, or exceeding the maximum file size limit.
