    Overview

    Exporting contacts allows you to back up data, perform external analysis, or migrate information. Because exports contain sensitive customer data, it is crucial to handle the resulting files securely and responsibly.

    Before you begin

    • Verify that you have the necessary administrative permissions to perform data exports.
    • Ensure you are following your organization's data privacy and security policies.

    Step 1: Step 1: Filter the List

    Navigate to the Contacts dashboard. Use filters or select a Smart List to isolate the specific group of contacts you want to export. If you want to export everyone, ensure no filters are applied.

    Step 2: Step 2: Select Contacts

    Check the box at the top left of the list to select the contacts on the current page. If you have more than one page, click the prompt to 'Select all [number] contacts'.

    Step 3: Step 3: Initiate Export

    Click the Export icon (usually a downward-pointing arrow) at the top of the list.

    Step 4: Step 4: Download File

    The system will generate a CSV file containing the selected contacts and their data. Depending on the size of the list, this may take a few moments. Save the file securely to your device.

    Users are responsible for handling customer data carefully and following applicable privacy obligations. Do not give legal advice. Ensure exported files are stored on secure, encrypted drives and deleted when no longer needed. Review contact data carefully before exports.

    Exporting the entire database when only a segment was needed: Always double-check your filters before exporting to minimize the exposure of sensitive data.

    Your user role likely does not have export permissions enabled. Contact your system administrator to request access.
